I heavily enjoyed this book. At First it was just very informative and kind of bland. It begins talking about the authors life story which isn't all that exciting. In all honest you can skip the first few chapters. It then gets really good. It turns into a book about extinction and how many extinctions we have had. Then the book gets really good but really scary. Its possible no one will read this review because we are that due for an extinction
This book far exceeded my expectations. The first few chapters were a struggle and failed to hook the reader, but as I continued to read, I quickly became entangled in the story. The authors provide a unique perspective by showing the leading theories of controversial topics, and how those theories how evolved through time, as new information is unearthed. Some of the word choice can be a bit technical (i.e. all the eons, eras, periods, and epochs), but it's always relevant to the topic being discussed. The book was very well written and flowed nicely, which made for a fairly quick read, while still covering all the information. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy, informative read about the history ---and future--- of life on our planet. It is an eyeopening book that provides insight from some of the brightest minds in the world and really makes you think about the planet we live on.
